About

IITM-Bioincubator is one of the world class bioincubators housed in IITM Research Park, India’s first leading university-based innovation ecosystem. The main objective is to promote biotechnology-based innovation and entrepreneurship in India, fostering the development of globally competitive products by start-ups for successful commercialization, since its inception in 2014. The state-of-the-art facilities (more than 100 equipment) enable effective translation of lab-based discoveries to marketable products. 

The services at IITM-BI offer a comprehensive support system to enable entrepreneurial leap from idea to market, facilitate enhancement in technical skills and business mindset, provide infrastructure for technology scale-up and pilot-scale validation, and an outreach platform identifying early customers.

  • Incubation services

    IITM-BI is an ideal place for budding entrepreneurs in all domains of biotechnology, who need a nurturing environment to help bring their idea to market. The incubatees will be offered a wide range of services starting from infrastructure and equipment access to mentoring, business support, funding, networking and training.

  • Equipment services

    More than 100 equipment (for preparatory, analytical, cell culture, downstream processing, purification and characterization) are available for use at nominal charges, both for academic and industry users. The details are provided in the Equipment section.

  • Consultancy services

    IITM-BI is open to accepting consultancy projects from both academia and industry – for instance, industrial projects under BIPP (Biotechnology Industry Partnership Programme), CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilities) or any other funding schemes will be considered.

Infrastructure and Equipments

Collaborations/Network

IITM-BI is connected to a vast network of bioincubators, knowledge parks, TBIs (Technology Business Incubators), Venture Centres, academic and industry organisations for active collaboration and exchange of knowledge. BI is also the implementation agency for Early Translation Accelerator (ETA) projects that take lead from academia for subsequent R&D and scale-up, in order to translate into industrial utility, thereby connected to industrial sector as well.
