Dorai Thodla, Founder & CTO Technology Strategies LLC, California, US (LinkedIn)

Mr. Dorai Thodla, founder & CTO at Technology Strategies, LLC, California, USA. He is a co-founder of 4 software companies –two in India and 2 in the USA. He is a former Technical Advisor at CoSOft and former CTO at Coromandel. Also he is founder of Information Technology systems and the iMorph innovation centre. Mr Dorai Thodla received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering, from College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai in the year 1971. He has created the first commercial SQL engine in India and helped license technologies to companies like Microsoft, Borland, SCO and The Whitewater Group in the USA. He has also created a technology road map and directed product innovations. 

Mr Dorai Thodla current interests include text analytics, chatbots and applied artificial intelligence. Also, helps startups and the students build product skills.

Dr. V. Shankar, Founder at Deeptech IP (LinkedIn)

Dr V. Shankar is founder, Deeptech IP, an IP firm focusing on providing technology and strategy advice to corporates, with the objective of IP protection in general, and patent prosecution in particular. Deeptech currently advises many large and leading institutions on IP protection, including Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, IIT Madras, Roots Industries, Precot, and Sieger Spintech at Coimbatore, GAVS Technologies, Chennai, as well as a number of startups associated with IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai. Dr Shankar has over 15 years’ experience in patent search, analysis, and prosecution. Prior to starting Deeptech IP, he was VP at MaxVal, leading their advisory services on patent portfolio management, patent strategy and prosecution for Indian and overseas clients. His team also provided various other services including defensive publication.

Prior to joining Maxval, he worked for 20 years in materials and engineering research at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, at least eight of which have been in technology development in the areas of welding and surface coatings. During his stint at IGCAR, he was involved in evaluation of stainless steels and nickel alloys for weldability and developing test methodology for the same. He developed aluminide coating for in-sodium support structures of PFBR steam generator, working with DMRL, Hyderabad to develop the lab scale process and later partnering with industry, including L&T Mumbai to implement the coating process in actual components.

Dr Shanakar received PhD in (Metallurgical Eng.), IIT Madras (2001), MS in Mat. Sci. Eng. Oregon Graduate Institute (USA) (1986), B.E.(Hons) in Metallurgical Eng. National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (1879-84). He has published over 37 papers in national and international scientific journals and presented an equal number of papers in international conferences.

Dr.G.DHINAKAR RAJ, Director, Centre for Animal Health Studies & Project Coordinator, VIF @ TANUVAS

Dr G Dhinakar Raj is an Indian veterinary scientist, an academic and the project director of the Translational Research Platform for Veterinary Biologicals, a partnership program between the Department of Biotechnology and the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Known for the development of diagnostic test kits for animal and poultry diseases such as Leptospirosis and Egg drop syndrome, Raj is a member of the DBT Task Force on Animal Biotechnology. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences in 2007.  Dr G Dhinakar Raj did his undergraduate studies at Madras Veterinary College and obtained the degree of BVSc from the Tamilnadu Agricultural University in 1986, standing first in the university which earned him four gold medals. Subsequently, he completed his master’s studies in biotechnology at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in 1989 and moved to the UK for his doctoral studies on a Commonwealth Fellowship program to secure a PhD in 1997. His post-doctoral work was, at first, at the University of Nebraska in 2001 and later at Pirbright Institute (then known as the Institute for Animal Health) in 2008. In between he joined the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) as an associate professor where he is a professor and serves as the project director of the Translational Research Platform for Veterinary Biologicals, a collaborative initiative between the Department of Biotechnology and TANUVAS. He currently serves as Director, Centre for Animal Health Studies (CAHS) and Director, Veterinary Incubation Foundation at TANUVAS.

Dr G Dhinakar Raj has received the Dr. F. M. Burnett Award of the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology in 2006. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards in 2007. He received the Tata Innovation Fellowship of the DBT in 2012.

#Accelerated Pre-incubation (API) Program for women

IIT Madras HTIC MedTech Incubator, IITM BioIncubator, SPMVV-WBIF (Tirupati), Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women and FICCI FLO Start-up are excited to launch the 3 months Accelerated Pre-incubation (API) Program for women, starting from July 2021 to Sep 2021. The objective is to provide Pre-incubation support to budding women innovators and start-ups (with at least 1 women founder) in the Medtech & Bio-Products space who would like to get finally incubated at the prestigious IIT Madras HTIC MedTech Incubator/IITM BioIncubator/SPMVV-WBIF (Tirupati)/Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women. The 3 month programs will include customer discoveries, building business models and developing product/service timeline. (The pre-incubation period has no charge for rental or any services offered by the incubator).

Upon successful completion of the 3 months program the start-up would be considered for incubation subject to IIT Madras/SPMVV/ Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women’s terms and conditions. Incubation can be virtual or resident depending on the start-up requirement.

Who can apply- Women Entrepreneurs, Innovators  and Start-ups (with at least 1 women founder) working  at the intersection of Healthcare & Bio-Products Technology
