The IIT Madras MedTech Incubator is part of the Healthcare Technology Innovation Center (HTIC) at IIT Madras and housed at IIT Madras Research Park. was set-up with support from BIRAC under the BioNest scheme. The MedTech Incubator aims at building a community of healthcare entrepreneurs who can deliver innovative, affordable, and valuable MedTech solutions and products for the Indian society. MTI provides wide-ranging support in terms of technical assistance, financial assistance, business support services and requisite infrastructure and facility to start-ups and entrepreneurs working at the intersection of healthcare and technology. 

 The incubator leverages the innovation ecosystem and technical capabilities of multidisciplinary R & D of HTIC, With all these components, IITM is the only academic institute in the country that has such an integrated med-tech centre with R&D, technology development, commercialization, and incubation. The centre leverages the synergies in various strands of excellence driving innovation and entrepreneurship at IIT Madras, consisting of cutting-edge research, industrial interactions, India’s first university- driven IITM Research Park and a stellar record of incubation in rural, social and industrial technologies.

The program is curated to support start-ups/ budding entrepreneurs at the ideation stage or early stages of development. The pre-incubation period is for 3 to 6 months to help start-up further refine and crystallize their ideas by providing mentoring and facility support.

The incubation program is for 18-36 months where the start-ups are provided with business support services technical and business mentoring and support, access to infrastructure, facility and funding opportunities to complete their product development and move towards commercialization.
Social Innovation programme for Products: Affordable & Relevant to Societal Health SPARSH is a social immersion program supporting social innovators that identifying specific needs and gaps in healthcare particularly in the Maternal Health & Child Health . The social innovators are provided financial and technical support for developing market-based solutions that have potential to bring cost effective health care breakthroughs.

Satellite Centre for The Centre for Augmenting WAR with COVID-19 Health Crisis (CAWACH)

CAWACH is aimed providing financial support to start-ups innovating in the area of diagnostics, devices, informatics including bio-informatics & information management systems, any intervention for the control of COVID 19 or startup ideas to address various challenges faced during the impact of COVID 19

API is a 12weeks program where the start-ups undergo a 5weeks program to discover 50 customers and they will undergo 7weeks program like product development, Business Canvas model and Product Canvas Model. We have launched 5 cohorts in each cohort we had 8 to 10 start-ups.
The program is designed to support the pre-incubated start-ups, who are in the initial stages of their venture in developing their product/solution. The advance mentoring sessions are conducted periodically to the pre-incubated start-ups considering their requirements. The start-ups are connected to the technical experts and the subject matter experts (Researchers, Clinicians, and Investors) to mentor and guide them, based on the support required for their product development journey.
